In this day and age of pandemic and social distancing, remote working and learning through technology has become the new normal.  Cloud-based video conferencing services such as Zoom, Teams are playing an important role in our lives today more than ever. These cloud-based video conferencing services allows us to stay connected during these troubling times. Imagine remote office meetings and online learning during these times without apps like these. Work from home and learn from home would not be possible without services like Zoom and Microsoft teams. Well, in this article we will try to help you learn how to take a screenshot in zoom.

 Zoom is software provided by Zoom Video Communications, Inc. The American Communications Technology Company, which is headquartered in San Jose, California provides teleconferencing, telecommuting, social relations, and distance education, Online chat service, and video-telephony services. Making this all possible through cloud-based peer-to-peer software platform zoom. Although this was founded somewhere 10 years ago, in April 2021, Zoom only saw its software usage increase exponentially during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 due to quarantine measures adopted across the world. Most of the working population across the world are aware of the features this application offers. However, Not many people know that zoom software also has an inbuilt Screenshot option.

How to use the zoom meeting screenshot tool:

Most of us know that zoom does have a built-in screen recording tool which if allowed by the meeting host, allows anyone in the meeting to record a zoom meeting. Zoom allows its free user to record the meeting locally, while the premium users are able to record the meeting in the cloud.  However, do not confuse this with the zoom meeting screenshot tool. While most of the Times screen recording may be overkill, while a simple screenshot will do your job as well.

Taking a screenshot in a zoom meeting is very easy. Let me tell you that there are two ways to take a screenshot of zoom meetings. While most of the desktop operating systems come with an inbuilt tool for taking screenshots on, any application for that matter. These tools do work universally to capture screenshots on all the applications unless they have specifically restricted screenshots. For example, Entertainment apps like Netflix and messaging apps like Confide will not let you take screenshots.

 Now let’s look into how to take a screenshot of a Zoom meeting using the stock tools of your operating system.

Windows 10:

  1. To take a screenshot of zoom meeting on your windows 10 use Windows + PrtScn shortcut keys.
  2. The Screenshots will now be saved in your screenshots folder of your pictures library.

Mac OS:

  1. Full screenshot:  use the shortcut Command + Shift + 3 to take full screen.
  2. Select area screenshot: use the shortcut Shift + Command + 4to turn your cursor into a crosshair. Drag and select the portion of the screen you want to capture and release.
  3. Your screenshots are saved in the Pictures folder.

How to take screenshots of a Zoom meeting using the Zoom native tool:

As we have mentioned earlier, Zoom does have its own screenshot tool, but it is disabled by default. All you have to do to take a screenshot using Jio Zoom native tool is to first enable it and then follow the below-given steps carefully. The process is similar for both Windows 10 and Mac OS applications.

  1. Open the zoom application.
  2. Go to the Home tab and then click on the cogwheel button under your profile picture.
  3. Then proceed to the keyboard shortcuts tab.
  4. Expand the chat settings.
  5. In the drop-down menu, you will see a screenshot.
  6. You can enable the shortcut by tick mark that will turn it blue.
  7. However, in the Mac OS, you will need to grant additional zoom permissions.
  8. Once this is enabled, you can use the zoom native screenshot tool.
  •  Mac OS: Command + T Shortcut to take screenshots using zoom native tool.
  • Windows 10: ctrl + T Shortcut to take a screenshot using zoom native tool.

How to capture a screenshot? On zoom, while using your phone using inbuilt zoom capture tool:

Unfortunately, Zoom mobile software for iOS and Android devices. Still does not have the ability to take screenshot integrated into its user interface. This might be possible in the future, but as of now if you want to take a screenshot of your zoom meeting using your mobile device. zoom is a very powerful tool for bringing teams together in this age of remote working. Applications like these have enabled us to sit in the comfort of our homes and still be able to attend meetings during this COVID-19 pandemic. However, keep in mind that the Command + T or the ctrl + T keyboard shortcuts are now taken over by zoom. And you cannot use it in any other application, while Zoom is running on your desktop.
